Ruby got home from work about 20 minutes after I clocked out for my weekend. She said, “Want to drive to Glacier tomorrow?” If you know me, driving is in my blood. Of course I said, “Let’s go tonight. Make the most of our weekend.” So we packed up two weekend backpacks, an air matress, and finally got on the road around 1745 MST. The drive into the night was easy until about 0230 MST in Montana when the deer started to really populate the highway shoulders. I was tired, Ruby was tired, Maple was zonked in her car seat; so we stopped off at the next rest area and setup to camp in the car.

This was the first time we would be trying to sleep in the car. Front seats fully forward with a slight forward tilt; Rear seats folded down; Backpacks and other gear tucked into the floor boards; Sunshades put up in the windows; air matress in the back! It was rough at first, Ms. Maple wasn’t a huge fan but the tired won her over. Slept a few hours, enough to get back on the road at 0600 MST to complete our drive!
