Around The Sun 2024

Another trip around the sun!

Today is January 29th 2025. The file to render my blog post was created on Saturday, December 14th 2024. It was the day before my birthday and I had plans to reflect on the amazing year I had. What I learned and something happy. The world needs more happiness in it.

That night we went to the Arcade to celebrate. I made it to Level 7 of Galaga on my one and only attempt. Ruby went off to take a phone call. I had Maple and we were playing a claw game I think. She comes back with a rough look on her face and says, “Alex, Aaliyah, and Alonda are gone.” What? Like missing? Did they run off? Oh my god, I hope they are okay. Where could they have gone…

Then I realised what she meant…My heart had already fallen into my stomach, but then I guess I just zoned out. We left immediately.

I wanted to abandon this post entirely. Nothing to say about 2024 anymore. Even today the brain fog is pretty heavy. Like, what did I even do in 2024? It appears I wrote 27 posts. Visited some family and went on some trips. Maple grew and we all went on some adventures. They were really good times. But today I feel so beat into the ground… I feel like I have not stopped moving since the day they passed away. In less than 30 days I drove 4,800 miles. At 75 mph that’s 64 hours of highway time. 2.6 days of wheels actually rolling. If you read insurance statistics from 2023 - 2024 the average American only drives 10,000 to 12,000 per year. Short of half-a-years worth of effort. I now have a dog. Cherry. She is sweet and very obedient. She can sit, paw, lay, and turn around. She is mostly leash-broke unless she gets excited. She follows you, so keeping her off-leash is also easy. But man, the family plus a dog can be a handful.

I’m rambling but I guess that is what this final comment on this post is for. Rambling and some closure for the year. But inside I hurt. We talked so much about our childern growing up together. We both loved birds. cars. I dunno man…
